[Richard is up early this morning, out and about before most of the rest of the household is even awake. He's not about to let his odd sensitivity to any sort of wind stop him from getting things done-- instead, he simply bundles himself up until he looks more like a walking pile of coats and scarves than anything else before making his way in to the center of town for a shopping trip. Of course, the downside of said bundle of outer layers is that it's a bit hard for him to see, meaning that he might occasionally stumble into people or objects before he even realizes it...

His first stop is the grocery store, where he can be found consulting a list and selecting ingredients. Okay, maybe making a black forest cake is a bit ambitious on his end, but he wants to give it a shot anyway. It SOUNDS delicious, if nothing else.

Then he heads to the item store to grab a few more things, even though he'd already picked out his main present some time ago. Perhaps a new toy for Tiger Festival as well...

Of course, then he realizes that his recipe calls for cherry liqueur, which requires a stop by Good Spirits to pick some of that up.

Finally, he heads back home to House 28, where housemates will find him in the kitchen baking something that smells very delicious and very chocolatey. The end result may be a little lopsided and the frosting job definitely leaves something to be desired (maybe he should've whipped that whipped cream a bit more, it seems a little runny), but at least it smells good?]

[He hasn't gotten to eat unhealthy dough in years. Screw being an adult. That bowl is his.]

Chocolate cake batter, made entirely from scratch.

[Richard will gladly nudge it over in Isamu's direction...

... after he sticks a finger into it to swipe one last bit for himself. He's allowed, okay. It's compensation for all of his hard work here.]

[Get your fingers out of that, that's his.

Isamu grabs a spoon from a nearby drawer. He enjoys his dough, but he'd rather be cleaner about it.]

If I get sick from this, I'm blaming you.

[It's his once Richard has finished getting that last taste of it. All bets are off until then.]

You still have that little faith in my cooking ability after all this time?

Ah, but this isn't cooked yet, is it?

[He smirks, licking the spoon anyway.]

I'll have you know I've been taste-testing it every step of the way to ensure its quality and safety.

So it's just got your germs all in it. Gotcha.

You say that as if you aren't exposed to them on a regular basis.

[... noooo one of his cherries is falling off the top!]

Mmm. Kingly cooties.

[Isamu reaches over to nab the cherry, popping it into his mouth.]

You're practically royalty already.

[Hey, that cherry goes on the cake, not in Isamu's mouth! In retaliation, he'll just reach over with the spreader he'd used to spread the whipped cream on the cake and dab a bit of it right on Isamu's nose.]

[It had been falling off! Therefore it was fair game.

Isamu scrunches up his face at that and attempts to get his tongue to reach his nose in order to lick it off. He has very little success, so he swipes it off with a finger instead.]

So that sort of thing can be passed on like a virus now?

[Richard can't help it-- the face Isamu is making combined with that attempt to lick the whipped cream off his own nose causes Richard to burst out laughing, which in turn means he brings his hand up to cover his mouth out of habit...

... and ends up getting whipped cream on his own chin. He is the champion.]

[Isamu smirked at that.]

Think that's funny? You goof.

It could be funnier...

[Run now, Isamu.]

I think it's fine as it is. I'd rather keep the cake in one piece, thanks.

[...Well until it's cut, anyway.]

Who said anything about involving the cake?

It's in the room. Accidents happen.

[That's enough to give Richard an idea, though probably not the sort Isamu was expecting.]

Why don't we go to the Battle Dome for a little while while the cake cools? I did promise to give you advice on how to utilize that symbology of yours-- you can consider that another part of your gift.

[He pauses, the spoon in his mouth.]

... I guess I'd be okay with that.

[It's not like anyone lived with them at the moment who'd be up to cake theft.]

I'll make sure to leave a sign threatening Asbel with royal punishment if he dares to touch the cake while we're out.

[Not that he thinks Asbel would actually do so; if anything, Asbel would quite literally stand guard in front of the fridge for him.]

Royal punishment, huh? So a tickling?

[He always has a hard time imagining Richard dealing out punishment to anyone.]

[Probably because Richard doesn't punish anyone under normal circumstances... unless you consider "trolling mercilessly" to be punishment.]

I do have other methods of punishment at my disposal besides just that, you know.

Oh? And what would those be, your highness?

[That earns Isamu more whipped cream on his nose as an example.

... which isn't really a punishment at all, but it was the only thing he could think of off the top of his head.]
