[Richard is up early this morning, out and about before most of the rest of the household is even awake. He's not about to let his odd sensitivity to any sort of wind stop him from getting things done-- instead, he simply bundles himself up until he looks more like a walking pile of coats and scarves than anything else before making his way in to the center of town for a shopping trip. Of course, the downside of said bundle of outer layers is that it's a bit hard for him to see, meaning that he might occasionally stumble into people or objects before he even realizes it...
His first stop is the grocery store, where he can be found consulting a list and selecting ingredients. Okay, maybe making a black forest cake is a bit ambitious on his end, but he wants to give it a shot anyway. It SOUNDS delicious, if nothing else.
Then he heads to the item store to grab a few more things, even though he'd already picked out his main present some time ago. Perhaps a new toy for Tiger Festival as well...
Of course, then he realizes that his recipe calls for cherry liqueur, which requires a stop by Good Spirits to pick some of that up.
Finally, he heads back home to House 28, where housemates will find him in the kitchen baking something that smells very delicious and very chocolatey. The end result may be a little lopsided and the frosting job definitely leaves something to be desired (maybe he should've whipped that whipped cream a bit more, it seems a little runny), but at least it smells good?]

[The question is muttered as Isamu builds up another attack as speedily as possible. The flames are larger now - though not by much. He slings them in the direction of the creature, aiming straight for its open mouth.]
[action]
[And maybe to make him look ridiculous, but that's just a bonus.
Fortunately, he made sure it was a particularly weak opponent, enough so that the slightly larger fireball right in a vulnerable spot like its mouth is enough to make the monster dissolve into sparkling light before it reaches Isamu... and Richard breathes a quiet sigh of relief, because he HAD been concerned about Isamu winding up injured from this.]
[action]
[He krinkles his nose up as looks at the spot where the bird creature had been before.]
[action]
[It's a familiar problem, one that many people have when they're first starting out with magic.]
[action]
Tell me about it.
At least I've figured out how to start tapping into it, but this is all trial and error.
[action]
That's because you're still thinking of it as something unfamiliar rather than as a part of you. You won't be able to access your full potential until you accept that power as being your own.
[action]
You think it's something that simple?
How does that even work? What part of me is it?
[action]
[And after a moment, Isamu might notice his hands tingling where they're touching Richard's.]
[action]
[Isamu pulls his hands away automatically.]
[action]
Try making another fireball, only this time don't try to draw the energy out of yourself. Just let it flow instead.
[action]
[Richard isn't even the one using symbology. How is he going to know? Isamu sighs, then closes his eyes and just stands with his arms out in front of him, trying to figure out how to just let it flow.]
[action]
Relax. Just feel the power building up inside of you.
[action]
[This is muttered, but he's trying anyway. Or he isn't supposed to try? This is confusing. How is he supposed to deal with this.]
[action]
Where do you think they get the ideas for lines like that?
[He would know, he's read more than his share of ridiculous action and superhero stories.]
[action]
[He snorts. Still nothing is happening.]
[action]
[He'll wait patiently while Isamu tries to figure out what to do. There's a learning curve to magic the same way there is with any other skill, and it's all a matter of discovering the proper method for oneself.]
[action]
He's just got to let it pour out of him, right? Let it flow naturally.
...
A few moments later he's giving a yelp and one of his hands appears to be on fire.]
[action]
Of course, it's a little too big to be all that precise, so Isamu's hand won't be the only thing getting soaked here...]
[action]
The fire is out, but who can say if it's the shock or the water that did it. He blinks, staring dully at Richard.
He supposes he should be grateful?]
[action]
... are you all right?
[action]
[So deadpan.
He looks down at his hand. It's a little pinkish, but otherwise not burnt too badly.]
[action]
[He lifts his own hands up to Isamu's, and within a few seconds the familiar glow of Nala's healing will issue from them.]
I'm sorry-- perhaps we should have taken this in stages instead.
[action]
[He lets Richard heal him, frowning the whole time.]
What stages? Neither of us know symbology.
[action]
[Isamu's frown matches Richard's own. Yes, it's a good thing that Isamu can tap into his powers now, but that was hardly the result he had been expecting.]
[action]
[He sighs.]
Fire is the only thing I've been able to do! I mean. Yeah, I guess it was the first thing I tried...
