If you brought a young lady home I might be too shocked to stop you.

I expected as much. But that also means you aren't allowed to bring any home either-- it wouldn't do for you to be setting a bad example for me.

Now that right there is cheating. It doesn't work that way.

Oh? And just why not?

Because I like girls in ways you don't. The true counter to that would be me bringing guys home.

Very well, then you have my permission to bring young men home as well. That will make it fair for both of us.

[Isamu snorts.]

I have your permission, huh?

At least this way you won't have to go sneaking them in the window instead.

When was the last time any girl tried to sneak in our window? I should be so lucky.

I'm sure that much could be arranged with a few inquiries over the journals.

You are not going girl hunting for me.

And why not? I might have more success than you've had so far.

[Isamu may be embarrassed by this, but it seems as if Richard is almost back to his normal self... at least on the outside.]

And I'm truly grateful to you for that. I'm still not sure what I did to deserve a friend like you, Isamu.

I don't know either. Lord knows I have so many other options.

[And his face falls somewhat at that. Is that why Isamu remains friends with him-- because he's the only option?]

You know I'm kidding, right? I wouldn't stay with you if I didn't like you, idiot.

Why?

[It's an honest question. Self-esteem isn't something Richard has much of on a personal level and he isn't sure why Isamu wants to be around him, especially after everything that's happened.]

Why? Does there always have to be a why?

Sometimes things just happen. Who else can I just sit around and tease like we were?

I like you because you're you. Don't need a better reason than that.

But if it weren't for me, you would have been able to spend this afternoon doing something you wanted to do, not slaving away in the kitchen making something to get me to eat.

If it weren't for me, you might even be able to find yourself a real girlfriend.

[Isamu snorts.]

...Dude. We all know I can't find a girl because I suck at dealing with them. You can't even take blame for that.

And what makes you think this isn't exactly what I wanted to do today?

[Richard just gives a little shake of his head.]

I'm not a pretty girl, and I'm hardly the best company right now. I'm sure there's no shortage of other things that are more entertaining than I am.
