[Richard is up early this morning, out and about before most of the rest of the household is even awake. He's not about to let his odd sensitivity to any sort of wind stop him from getting things done-- instead, he simply bundles himself up until he looks more like a walking pile of coats and scarves than anything else before making his way in to the center of town for a shopping trip. Of course, the downside of said bundle of outer layers is that it's a bit hard for him to see, meaning that he might occasionally stumble into people or objects before he even realizes it...

His first stop is the grocery store, where he can be found consulting a list and selecting ingredients. Okay, maybe making a black forest cake is a bit ambitious on his end, but he wants to give it a shot anyway. It SOUNDS delicious, if nothing else.

Then he heads to the item store to grab a few more things, even though he'd already picked out his main present some time ago. Perhaps a new toy for Tiger Festival as well...

Of course, then he realizes that his recipe calls for cherry liqueur, which requires a stop by Good Spirits to pick some of that up.

Finally, he heads back home to House 28, where housemates will find him in the kitchen baking something that smells very delicious and very chocolatey. The end result may be a little lopsided and the frosting job definitely leaves something to be desired (maybe he should've whipped that whipped cream a bit more, it seems a little runny), but at least it smells good?]

[Now it's Richard's turn to study Jean's expression, waiting for his reaction to the strange and colorful cereal.

Even if he kind of wants that box back so he can have more of them.]

[His expression is somewhere between surprise and uncertainty. And he's still chewing - he probably stuffed too much of the colorful cereal in his mouth - but he answers anyway.]

Doesn't taste anything like fruit. [Which might be a harsh assessment, because there's a vaguely fruity something to it.] And it's too damn sweet. Might as well be a box full of sugar, it would hardly make a difference.

I thought I could detect a hint of fruit flavor, but perhaps I was wrong. You're right about it tasting mostly of sugar, however. They seem to have overdone it somewhat on the sweeteners.

[... but he likes it anyway. Give the box back to him if you don't want it, Jean.]

[Take it. He finishes chewing and swallows.]

It's more like a dessert than something you'd want to eat for breakfast.

[And take it he does... and then promptly helps himself to another small handful of it. You know, just to test the taste one more time.]

And yet it has the texture and consistency of cereal. Interesting...

I'll stick with eggs and bacon. [Man fuel. None of that fruity stuff.]

[BLASPHEMY. Everyone should enjoy toast... or, more specifically, natto toast, only the best food on the face of the planet.]

Sometimes. [The idea of getting to eat so much is still a little new to him, okay.]

[... okay, maybe just ONE more handful of these fruity loops, because they really are oddly tasty.]

[MAYBE HE WILL, WHAT THEN? At least they love him.

Come to him, box of Froot Loops, he will treat you right and never leave you for any other cereal.]

[Look, there's even an aisle to walk down right here.

Just don't start making out with the box or else he is walking the hell away from this.]

[He will take that box and happily march down the aisle with it in his arms.

After he finishes the rest of his grocery shopping, that is. Shotgun wedding or not, he did come here for a reason, and it wouldn't be very responsible of him to go off and get married without doing his errands first.]
