[Anyone near the western edge of the village this afternoon might spot a young man in the garb of a New Feather staring at the village with a bit of a perplexed expression, one hand resting on his hip. It's pretty obvious that this isn't where he'd been a few hours ago (the wings would be perhaps the biggest hint of that), but what he's not sure about is whether he's still in Windol or not.]

This isn't Lhant, and it's too big to be Ohlen. [He shakes his head.] Where in the world am I? And what happened to Asbel, Sophie and Miss Pascal...?

[OOC: Wanted to get him settled in before all of the chaos with the Remnants goes down! Also, if you haven't already tagged his permissions post, please do so to make things easier for me.]

[Naoki seems to be having a conversation with the air as he walks, his hands in his pockets. However, he pauses as he spots the newcomer, tilting his head. Then he plods towards him with a friendly grin and wave.]

Hi there; you're new here, aren't you?

[Conversing with the air does seem a bit unusual, but Richard has seen enough strange things lately that this hardly compares. When the other approaches, he'll nod in response, though he doesn't wave.]

Yes, I am. But I'm not exactly sure where "here" is.

It's Luceti--um, that is, a world different than your own. Lots of people were brought here from their own worlds against their will.

Brought to a different world? I've used a device that transports you from one location to another, but I had no idea it was possible to transport people to an entirely different world.

[Naoki nods.] Yeah--I don't know how, but it looks like it's possible. Somehow. Um, we've been taken to be used as experiments here.

[His frown deepens somewhat. Out of the frying pan into the fire, it seems.]

Mm. They're...strange more than anything. Last month, people fell in love with the first person to reply to an entry you made in your journal. And a fountain popped up in the square and when you drank from it you got, er...really affectionate. The one before it, everyone started trying out strange jobs they never would've considered normally.

What kind of magic or curse is capable of causing something like that? It almost sounds like something out of a children's story or a fairytale. Although if what I've read in books is true, the fountain could be explained by some sort of love potion.

Strange, isn't it? I don't know if it's magic or a curse--the abilities the Malnosso have are still pretty much a large unknown. Hard to figure out what they're going to do next, too.

They're the organisation who do the experiments. They're pretty mysterious, I guess--and there seems to be no definite way to get at them.

Yes, you're right. But feeling sorry for ourselves isn't going to help us get home any faster, nor is it going to change the situation. We just have to do the best we can while we're here.

[Naoki grins.] That's right. Well, should pick up your things for now, huh? I can show you around this place and explain more as we go. [Pause] My name's Naoki.

First--to the shops. There's no currency, so everything is free here for the taking. And your things should have shown up by now, so we can go by the clothing shop first.
