[Anyone who happens to walk by on the road beside House 28 this evening will be treated to a rather unusual sight: a cloud of fireflies hovering around the front lawn, greenish-yellow lights flickering as they fly back and forth, following the movement of a tiny orb of light.

Closer inspection reveals the source of said orb of light as Richard, who is seated in the grass-- he's using a tiny bit of Hyt's power to combine with his own magic (the base for a Holy Lance, not that he's going to cast the entire thing), creating a soft white glowing sphere that hovers a couple of inches above his finger. As he moves his hand to trace mindless patterns in the night air, the orb follows it, and the fireflies follow that in a parade of blinking lights. Richard can't quite hide his amusement at this, reflected in the slight smile on his face. It may be an odd way to spend one's birthday, but to Richard, it's more than fine-- not that he doesn't appreciate what Asbel and the others have done for him. He just needs a little time to himself to unwind after all of that.

But if anyone wanders by, he'll be happy to converse with them. He wouldn't be in a public place if he didn't feel like talking to anyone, after all.]

[Mia is a sucker for people who can do anything fascinating and aesthetic with their powers. A man making pictures in the air with light is even more attention-catching than waterbending.

[Richard doesn't seem to mind the staring at all once he notices Mia's presence-- if anything, he seems somewhat flattered by it, if not amused. He does have to admit it's a rather eye-catching spectacle.]

It doesn't have a name-- I used part of one of my own spells to combine with Hyt's magic. A Holy Lance, if you're familiar with it.

I'm afraid I do not recognize that name. Still, that amount of control is impressive.

Yes, I was surprised by how much concentration it initially took to make the orb at all. It's gotten easier with practice, but I'm still not sure I could do it in a more tense situation.

[He twirls his finger just slightly to make the orb spin on its axis so that Mia can get a better look at it if she'd like.]

In a tense situation that is probably not what you would need to do with your time anyway.

[It's fascinating. The only thing she has such tight control over is her healing Psynergy (no small feat, and very useful, but not very beautiful considering most people can't see it).]

Can you make it change color?

I can certainly try.

[It's with a look of intense concentration that he stops the orb's spinning and just focuses on it, as if trying to will it to change color. But whatever he's doing, it doesn't seem to be working-- the light remains a bright white-gold, exactly the same shade as it was before.]

Oh- no, I didn't mean to force yourself! I was only curious, I'm sorry.

[At last he drops his concentration and just smiles at her, seemingly unbothered by the fact that his attempt wasn't successful.]
