[There are the sounds of a somewhat muffled conversation in the background before Richard picks up the journal to address it, a clear undercurrent of happiness and slight excitement to his voice.]

So this is what they refer to on Earth as a "white Christmas." I've read that this sort of Christmas is the best kind to have despite the weather... what do all of you think? Do you prefer the snow, or would you like a sunny day?

[He'll be sitting on the couch sipping a cup of tea while he waits for answers-- and his housemates, because IT'S CHRISTMAS AND HE IS EXCITED due to not having this holiday in his world. Might as well enjoy it while he's here, right?]

I arrived here nearly nine months ago, so this is my first winter here as well. I must admit I wasn't expecting to see so much snow here.

No, I went home for a short time a few months ago. From what I was told, only a few days passed here, while it was several weeks for me.

That's... a little weird. [She knows about time differences and all, but it's still not a pleasant thing to experience.]

What's your home like?

[ledbythewind]

My home is Windol-- it's a kingdom right on the ocean, blessed by the winds. We're known as "the source of the winds" because of it, and because of our Valkynes Criath that helps disperse the arles - our planet's life source - throughout the country. Our Criath is the Wind Criath. That's why the country is so full of greenery.

[... yeah, he's kind of proud of his kingdom.]

[This is Kaori being thoroughly amazed, it sounds a lot like where she's from.]

Blessed by the wind? That's lucky... Some of my ancestors are descended from the clan of wind in my world, protected by Aisenrei. But I live among those blessed by Venu instead, who thrive in earth.

How many clans are there in your world-- as many as there are different elements?

[He's curious, because that does remind him a bit of his own world.]

There used to be thirteen, only twelve now... Or maybe even eleven. But each one does have an element to correspond with.

There are only three Valkynes Criaths in my world, for wind, fire and water. But there are only three countries as well, so it all works out that way.

There's only three countries in your world? [Other worlds she knows of have ten at the very least.]

Yes, Windol, Fendel and Strahta, though I gather from my reading that that's somewhat unusual.

It is pretty unusual, but I suppose that could be saying something about the state of matters in your world that there aren't more.

No, none yet, but my housemates are still asleep-- we haven't had the chance to exchange any gifts today. What about you?

Sleepyheads? [Though curling up in warm blankets sounds tempting...]

I only have the gifts I got from the Secret Santa exchange and from that thing in the plaza, but I really like them.

I live with a pair of sleepyheads.

I wasn't thinking of those gifts, but if we're going to count them, then I've received two things already. I like them as well, even if they are a bit unusual.

I don't think earrings are a typical gift for men.

Kinda, plenty of men wear them. I think it's a very pretty accesory, personally.
